This is an important decision and one that most people will have nominated in our pre-planning booklet or through the course of discussion with family members ahead of time.
Whatever your decision, we will liaise directly with your chosen cemetery or crematorium to make arrangements on your behalf. If you’d like to know more about Mornington Peninsula or Melbourne's local cemeteries and crematoriums, we’ll be happy to discuss available options.
Cemeteries offer a range of in-ground burial options in natural garden settings and specific cultural or religious locations.
Additional costs will apply depending upon the cemetery and the type of plot chosen.
Cremation is sometimes chosen as a lower cost option, particularly in more densely populated areas where cemetery fees are high.
Ashes may be interred in a wall at the crematorium or cemetery, kept at home in a beautiful urn, or scattered in a meaningful place at an appropriate time. Some people choose to ‘split’ ashes. Others may desire to have the ashes placed in a specially designed garden or wall of remembrance. This is not a decision that needs to be made immediately.
Our service offering includes the return of your loved ones ashes, within a week after cremation or at a convenient later time. With prior arrangement in some instances ashes can be returned sooner.
Please feel free to call one of our friendly directors at Mornington Peninsula Funerals on 5982 0086 for clarification and/or to make a no-obligation appointment for us to meet at your convenience.
